This Mega-Post will continue as long as zombie movies stay at the heart of the horror genre. I have broken each film down to its specific “Zombie Model”; thus, giving all of you the chance to decide what kind of zombie movie you would like to view. I will add movies to this post as I see them and classify them. Any zombie film NOT in here I have either not seen yet or I have just forgotten it. But rest assured, this post will continue to grow! There are some very subtle differences between these Models that I feel I must explain: the Models are broken down by zombie physiology and temperament, and the catalyst of the plague. Some Models would seem to overlap if you do not look closely; i.e. even though the zombies in Resident Evil (2002) have a Romero-esque physiology, the plague was birthed from a viral infection, putting it into the “Viral Zombie Model”. The Conscious Zombie Model (3 Films)

1. Zombie Honeymoon (2004)

| Zombie Honeymoon is a romantic horror film about a young married couple, madly in love, on their honeymoon. One day on the beach, the groom Danny is attacked and killed by a man who rises up out of the water with no explanation, leaps on top of him, and vomits blood into his mouth. Danny is resuscitated ten minutes later, and seems to look and act totally normal. However, his wife Denise finds out that that's not the case at all. It turns out that Danny has become a zombie. However, instead of becoming a "Night of the Living Dead (1968)"-style creature right off the bat, he disintegrates gradually, in a manner akin to cancer or AIDS. He and his wife Denise do their best to cope with his slipping away, not to mention the fact that he can't stop killing and eating people. As their best friends arrive for a weekend visit, she makes him promise her that they're off-limits. He agrees, but finds it more and more difficult to control himself. She hangs in there because he's the love of her life, but it becomes more and more apparent that her life is in jeopardy as well. |

The Cursed Zombie Model (4 Films)

The Garland Zombie Model (3 Films)

2. Night of the Living Dead (1990)

| Movie starts with Barbara and her brother visiting their mother, I think, at the local cemetery. When out of nowhere a zombie attacks and her brother fends it off, but gets bitten in the process. Now on the run, she comes to a farmhouse and heads inside only to discover that a zombie lurks inside. All of the sudden, Ben, a local man, shows up and saves Barbara. They fortify the house as best they can when they find five people hiding in the basement; a mother and father with their sick daughter, and the nephew of the farmhouse owner and his girlfriend. The father, Cooper, makes trouble with Ben because he wants to be in control. After some time, the zombies find the farmhouse and attack. Soon the little house is swarming with the undead and the people inside try their best to board up the doors and windows. When the opportunity arrives to escape by means of refueling Ben's truck from the gas pump down the street, Tom, the homeowner's nephew, and his girlfriend drive down to there and end up blowing it up. Eventually the zombies get in and Barbara makes it out and finds a band of hicks havin' a good ol' time. Morning comes and everything seems like its back to normal. |
